Abstract

Category: Experience report Thematic axis: Axis 1 – Health Surveillance Introduction: Good quality prenatal and puerperal care is essential for maternal and neonatal health. By carrying out prenatal care within the norms recommended by the Ministry of Health, we try to guarantee better results during pregnancy. According to the Technical Manual of the Ministry of Health, “the main objective of prenatal care is to welcome women from the beginning of pregnancy, ensuring the birth of a healthy child at the end of pregnancy and the guarantee of maternal and neonatal well-being. .” Objectives: to develop a multidisciplinary intervention plan to encourage and improve the quality of prenatal care for pregnant women at the Maria Teresa de Freitas Matrix Health Unit, encourage dental care for pregnant women (with an increase in indicator 3 of the Previne Brasil 2022 targets ). Methodology: Guidance for pregnant women with consultations in the waiting room, invitation to participate in the project, referral of pregnant women to dental care by the nursing team and doctors, invitation to receive guidance via whatsapp business throughout the prenatal period. After the completed dental treatment, a photographic book is made at the end of the pregnancy. Results: This project is in progress, but there was an increase in the number of dental consultations in the UMS Maria Teresa de Freitas region after the start of the project (January to December 2021 with 12 pregnant women attended, and January to August 2022 with 103 dental appointments for pregnant women), according to data from the Uberaba Health System (Electronic Medical Records). Conclusion: This project aims to guide and carry out dental care, informing the importance of multiprofessional follow-up during pregnancy, reducing periodontal infections that can commonly have concrete relationships with the occurrence of premature births and low birth weight babies, since inflammatory stimuli tend to generate a hyperirritability in the uterine smooth muscle, which in turn causes the uterus to start contracting and cervical dilation to begin, acting as a trigger for premature delivery. Financing: Keywords: Periodontal disease, premature birth, oral health surveillance and pregnancy complications.
