Abstract

Down Syndrome is a autosomal genetic condition that is considered one of the most common syndrome in human species. DS presents physical and functional signs and characteristics that are of great relevance in Dentistry. With the development of medicine and the raise in life expectancy, there is also an increase in dental treatment demand, whether for functional or aesthetic reasons.

With the large increase in demand and the great influence of orthodontics on the quality of life of these patients, it becomes increasingly necessary to train professionals so that they can provide humane and effective care to these patients.

This review aims to list the main characteristics of orthodontic interest and the most suitable forms of treatment to these patients.
