Abstract

Facial skin hypotonia is the most evident part of the aging process. Several aesthetic treatments are indicated to alleviate and improve the appearance of skin ptosis, expression lines, and laxity. The procedure that has been standing out for its results and cost is the focused ultrasound device. The methods adopted in this study were based on a bibliographic reference on the subject, including books in the field of facial harmonization, to guide the considerations presented here. The research was conducted from January to March 2025. The general objective of this research is to promote reflections on the use of focused ultrasound in controlling eyelid laxity, providing safety to patients seeking non-surgical aesthetic procedures. The literature review and clinical practice confirm the good results obtained and also the low rates of adverse effects when the focused ultrasound technology is well applied. The specific objectives aim to explain the action and effectiveness of focused ultrasound in reducing tissue laxity in the eyelid region, as well as to define what ultrasound is. Thus, we can affirm that HIFU technology promotes improvement in dermal thickness and, consequently, ensures firmness in the eyelid area, alleviating laxity.
